Our Story

Rotary Gate Systems began as a white board idea in the early 2000's, the brainchild of Michael Jones, with input from his employees with years of experience installing, servicing, and repairing hundreds, if not thousands, of gate operator systems in the field, and his long-time friend and fellow veteran, James Klok.

Michael Jones is the President and CEO of Rotary Gate Systems.  As an Air Force veteran and machinist by trade, Michael moved with his family to Pensacola, FL in 1993 to start a gate installation and automation business.  After a decade of feedback and complaints from customers along the Florida Gulf Coast that their gate operators and chains were rusting, causing failure and requiring chain replacement constantly, Mike knew he had to provide something new to his customers to make his company stand out and solve the problem that his customers had, that no other company could, or wanted to solve.  The basic design was taken from a B52 tail-gun motor, which Mike had helped to produce for the U.S. Government during his time at a machine shop.  The idea was to provide operators that meet the needs of even the most secure entrances, while maintaining ease of use for everyone from trained maintenance personnel to individual homeowners.

Giving an alternative for the extremely corrosive Florida Gulf Coast, as well as the rest of the country, Mike set out to perfect the design challenges, having to source the individual components that he could, and design and produce the ones that didn't exist.  All components would be, and still are, sourced from U.S. companies when possible, and the completed product is assembled, tested, and shipped from Pensacola, Florida.  This aligns with the vision Mike has of keeping manufacturing in the United States and offering a product that meets the quality standards of every installing dealer, including our staff, so that customers get the best product available on the market.

Today we maintain the same goals, employing veterans from all branches of our military, training them on new skills and machines, keeping production in the United States, and providing the best products possible for your gate installation.  Dealer and end-user satisfaction is our number one priority, this means that outsourcing production, assembly, or tech support will never be an option here at RGS.

In December, 2019 during recess at school, Alexander Quanbeck's life was tragically cut short when a gate fell, crushing him.  Rotary Gate Systems is working with other companies and organizations to ensure this tragedy never strikes another family.  Education is the key to progress, and we are committed to educating dealers, homeowners, maintenance staff, and others of the dangers of an improperly installed gate.
