Electric Automatic Gates: Questions and Answers

Purchasing a new or a replacement automatic gate system is a big decision that requires research beforehand. Rotary Gate Systems is happy to answer your questions related to our gate systems so that you can make the most informed decision possible and, in turn, find the gate system that is best suited for your needs.

Q: Why do I even need an electric gate as opposed to a manual one?
A: There are plenty of reasons to have an automated gate instead of a manual one. Security, peace of mind, and convenience are the top three reasons why customers choose to install an electric (automatic) gate system.

Q: What brands of systems and openers do you carry?
A: We manufacture only RGS products, machined, built, and tested in the U.S.A.

Q: What kinds of gate systems and openers are available?
A: There are several different kinds of gate systems available on the market.  Rotary Gate Systems specializes in slide gates, slide gate accessories/components, and smart technology for our system with the Rotary IQ.

Q: How much does a gate system opener cost?
A: The price of an automatic gate system can vary depending on the type and complexity of the system, as well as the location it would be installed.  Contact us today to get set up with an expert in your area.

Q: Will your products be compatible with my existing gate system? How can I tell?
A: Most existing gate systems can be retrofitted with RGS operators with little to no modification; however, due to industry changes in safety requirements in 2016, additional components may be required.

Q: Do you also provide installation?
A: Rotary Gate Systems does not provide installation for the gate systems that we manufacture. We can, however, put you in touch with installation experts in your area.

Q: Will these electric gate system openers still work in extreme weather conditions?
A: All RGS operators are DC powered and have a built-in battery backup system, allowing for use of the system in power outages and extreme weather conditions.

Q: What kind of maintenance does an electric gate system opener require?
A: Rotary Gate Systems operators and components are designed to be completely maintenance free.  The only component that should be regularly checked, tested, and replaced are the included batteries.

Q: Do you offer warranties on your gate openers?
A: All RGS gate operators come with a 5-year warranty; other RGS products come with a lifetime warranty.


Q: I have an issue with my product. Who do I contact?
A: Contact your local installation expert who originally installed the system or you can contact Rotary Gate Systems for a referral.
